A beautifully simple tribal carpet that proves once again the power of simple design elements.

The town of Serab is located about seventy miles East of Tabriz.  Rugs from this area are quite distinct, and are almost invariably runners; the looms of the town are not appropriate for the production of any other sizes.  The rugs are compactly made with a medium to heavy pile, and were thought to have camels hair as their background.  The origin of this misconception is difficult to trace, as the rugs are clearly made of sheep wool dyed beige with walnut husks.
