7231 WPA Tapestry
Designed by WPA artist Anton Refregier, and woven by native people in southern Mexico, this is a wonderful example of the celebration of labor as a theme espoused by WPA and later muralists such as Refregier, Diego Rivera, et all.
Anton Refregier, although Russia born, made is career in the United States, most famously featured in the American Pavillion at the 1939 World’s Fair in New York City.
